KKR vs SRH: The tournament has entered the knockout stage, when every match is a make or break game for the team. Yesterday we saw how MI won the match against CSK and kicked them out of the tournament. MI and CSK are the only teams who are out of the competition. And the next match will decide another team who will be out of the competition.
This is the 61st fixture of the TATA IPL 2022 that will feature Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. Both teams will enter into this do or die game with the intention of winning. Because whoever loses the match will be out. So, let’s check out the complete match details and possible XI for both teams.
KKR vs SRH: Match Preview and Prediction
At the end of the first half, SRH were sitting at the second position on the points table after five successive wins. And now they have slipped to 6th place on the points table. The reason is the poor performance from the whole unit and the bowling department, on which they were winning the matches, has conceded almost 200 in all the last 3-4 matches. That is the reason that Orange Army has lost three matches on the trot and is now struggling to register a single win as well.
But with the position they are in, they can’t afford to lose one more match because it effectively eliminates their chances of making the top four. But the biggest worry for them is that the bowlers are leaking runs and the batters are not sticking up to the task. It will be interesting to see how they go with this match.
Probably XI: Abhishek Sharma, Kane Williamson (C), Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (Wk), Shashank Singh, Jagadeesha Suchith, Kartik Tyagi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Fazalhaq Farooqi/Marco Jansen, Umran Malik
Kolkata Knight Riders
With five wins and 10 points, the two-time champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, are sitting next to SRH in 8th place on the points table. For them, there is nothing left in the tournament as they have two matches to go and they must win both games and then wait for the other teams to finish. That is the only thing that could help them. Because according to the qualification criteria, a team must have 16 points and after winning the next two matches, they can reach 14 points.
However, they are coming off a big win over Mumbai Indians in the previous match, which should give them confidence. But the problem is that one of the stars of the match, Pat Cummins, has been ruled out. As a result, management will have a big shoe to fill. And the issue of the captain and coach is another talking point. Whatever the issues are, KKR must take a strong stance against SRH. They must remember that they have already lost to them in the previous match.
Probably XI: Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer (C), Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Sheldon Jackson (Wk), Umesh Yadav, Tim Southee, Varun Chakravarthy
KKR vs SRH Match, Pitch and Toss Update
The pitch at the Maharashtra Cricket Association is good for pace bowling as it offers swing and bounce at the start. As a result, the pacers from both teams will enjoy bowling on this track. Batsmen can use the bounce to good effect. The average score here is 170. However, in the last match between LSG and GT, it was a low-scoring game. On the other hand, in an evening game, dew might come into play in the second innings, and it will always be a challenge for the bowlers to hold the grip. Bowling first will be ideal on this pitch. The team winning the toss will go to the field first. However, eight of the 11 matches played here have been won by batting first and three by batting second.
KKR vs SRH Head to Head
Both teams have met a total of 22 times in the history of the IPL. But KKR is fairly ahead of SRH in terms of wins. So far, the Kolkata Knight Riders have won 14 matches, as compared to SRH’s 8 wins. However, the last match between the two teams ended in the favor of SRH.
IPL 2022: KKR vs SRH: Players to watch out for
Shreyas Iyer will be the man that KKR would like to see score runs. The skipper is in good touch and showing his consistency at the top. Shreyas has scored 336 runs so far at an average of 30.54 and 123.23, respectively.
Tim Southee will be an important member of the pace bowling line-up, with Cummins not available, he will have to take the lead. So far, Southee has done a decent job. The Kiwi pacer has taken 12 wickets at an economy of 7.22.
Abhishek Sharma will be the player to watch out for. He gave the team a solid start more often than not and will look to make more runs for the team. The left-hander has scored 331 runs, including two half-centuries this season.
T. Nataranjan hasn’t played the last three games due to an injury, and now he is available for selection. He has done a terrific job so far and is the leading wicket-taker for the team. The left-arm pacer has taken 17 wickets at a bowling strike rate of 12.3.
