Kane Williamson is probably the finest and most elegant batter that is playing for New Zealand in modern-day cricket across formats. Williamson has been as skillful as any legendary batter. He is currently among the top players with the most test centuries in modern-day cricket. Williamson made his test debut in November 2010 against India in Ahmedabad.
He smashed his debut century and made 131 in his first game. In the last decade or so, he has led his country to numerous wins in the longest format. Williamson has featured in 94 tests so far and has scored 8124 runs (most for New Zealand) at an average of 54.89 with 28 centuries and 33 half-centuries. 1. Kane Williamson – 242 not out vs Sri Lanka in January 2015
Williamson scored his maiden double hundred in January 2015 against Sri Lanka in Wellington. It was the second game of two tests. New Zealand were dismissed for 221 in the first inning, and Williamson scored 69 runs. Sri Lanka replied with 356 and took a first-inning lead of 135. In the second inning, Williamson scored a brilliant 242, and the Kiwi declared at 524/5, setting a target of 390. Sri Lanka got dismissed for 196 and lost by 193 runs.
2. Kane Williamson – 200 not out vs Bangladesh in February 2019
Since 2019, Williamson has scored a double century every year. In February 2019, he scored his second against Bangladesh in Hamilton in the first test of the series. Bangladesh made 234 and 429 in two innings. New Zealand batted once and made 715/6 d. Skipper Williamson scored 200 not out from 257 with 19 fours, and New Zealand won by an inning and 52 runs.
3. Kane Williamson – 251 vs West Indies in December 2020
The third double hundred for Williamson came against West Indies in December 2020. It was the first of two tests. In the first inning, New Zealand declared at 519/7 in 145 overs. Williamson made 251 runs with 34 fours and two sixes. The Black Caps didn’t need to bat twice as West Indies got dismissed for 138 and 247. As a result, the hosts won by an inning and 134 runs.
4. Kane Williamson – 238 vs Pakistan in January 2021
Pakistan toured New Zealand for two tests in December-January of 2020–2021, and Williamson scored centuries in both games. In the second test in Christchurch, he scored a double hundred. New Zealand batted once and declared at 659/6 in 158.5 overs, and Williamson made 238 with 28 fours. Pakistan registered scores of 297 and 186 and lost by an inning and 1769 runs.
5. Kane Williamson – 200 not out vs Pakistan in December 2022
Williamson scored his fifth double century against Pakistan as well. It came in December 2022, in the first game of New Zealand’s tour of Pakistan. It was the game in Karachi, and Pakistan scored 438 runs in the first inning. New Zealand replied strongly and declared at 612/9. Williamson made 200 not out. Pakistan made a bold declaration just before the close of play at 311/8. New Zealand had to chase 138 runs in 15 overs. New Zealand were 61-1 in 7.3 overs when the bad light stopped play.
6. Kane Williamson – 215 vs Sri Lanka in March 2023
The sixth and most recent double century for Williamson came against Sri Lanka in March 2023. It was the second of two games in Wellington. Batting first, New Zealand declared at 580/4 in 123 overs. Williamson made 215 off 296 with 23 fours and two sixes. In reply, Sri Lanka got all out twice for 164 and 358 runs. The Black Caps won that game by an inning and 58 runs.
