The inaugural season champions of the Caribbean Premier League, the JT, are one of the few CPL franchises that have won the CPL twice. The franchise represents the city of Jamaica. It was one of the franchises that started the CPL T20 with a grand opening in 2013. The home ground for the franchise is Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
Apart from winning the very first season in 2013, the Jamaica Tallawahs also won the 2016 season, beating Guyana Amazon Warriors by nine wickets in the final. However, they finished the last season in fifth place, but they have made it to the top four seven out of nine times. So, in the upcoming season, they would like to carry on their performance to lift their third title overall.
Jamaica Tallawahs 2022 Squad
Jamaica Tallawahs had a very poor performance in 2021, so they have worked hard in the Draft 2022. The team has retained a core of players, keeping in mind the future. The retained players are Rovman Powell, Shamarh Brooks, and Kennar Lewis. However, the plan was to strengthen the bowling department. That is the reason they have gone with some international performers.
The franchise has signed the likes of Sandeep Lamichhane, Imad Wasim, and Chris Green for their spin department. While Mohammad Amir will lead the pace attack. Fabian Allen and Brandon King are the local stars that they have gone with. Rovman Powell will be the leader of the team. Former West Indian batter Shivnarine Chanderpaul is the coach of the team.
Jamaica Tallawahs won only four matches in the last season out of 10 games. They performed poorly in terms of the batting and bowling departments both. That is the reason they have worked on it. The JT will open their season against St Kitts Nevis Patriots in the very first match of the tournament on August 31.
