IPL Auction 2023: The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League had a totally different flair with two new teams joining the competition. That made it tougher for the other teams, and that’s what was visible in the tournament. Two of the most successful franchises ended up in the bottom of the table. On the other hand, both new franchises did a pretty reasonable job. In fact, the Gujarat Titans went on to create history. As they won the IPL title in their maiden season under the leadership of Hardik Pandya.
KL Rahul led Lucknow Super Giants also ended in top four. After an eventful last season, fans are doubly excited for the upcoming season in 2023. And to make it more interesting, the IPL governing authority has scheduled a mini-auction ahead of the upcoming season. The 2023 IPL auction will take place on December 23 in Kochi at the end of this year. Thus, the last date for all ten teams to submit the list of retained and released players is November 15.
IPL Auction 2023: MI and CSK have submit retained and released players lists
As per the latest news from Zee24 Taas, it has been confirmed that the two most successful franchises submitted their respective lists to the BCCI on Saturday. And with this, some big names have been released from both teams ahead of the upcoming auction in December. The preparations for the next edition of the IPL are in full swing. All teams are shortlisting the set of players which they want in their team. On the other hand, all the teams are also looking to grab some new players in the upcoming auction.
Mumbai Indians made a huge decision
Five-time champion Mumbai Indians, who had the worst season in 2022, have made some big changes to their side. Notably, Mumbai finished last in the TATA IPL 2023. They won only four out of the 14 games they played. MI started the season with 8 back-to-back losses to start the season, which was another unwanted record that they made. However, to improve it in the upcoming season, the franchise has decided to make some tough calls.
After releasing the Pandya brothers ahead of the 2022 mega-auction, MI has now released one of their veteran servants, former West Indian all-rounder Keiron Pollard. The all-rounder has been part of the MI setup since 2010 and has also led in a few games. But his performance in the last season was below average, and that is why the franchise has taken this step. Apart from them, the team has also released Finn Allen and Tymal Mills.
MI Retained Players: Rohit Sharma, Dewald Brewis, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah, Daniel Sams, Tim David, Jofra Archer, Tristan Stubbs, and Tilak Verma
MI Released Players: Fabian Allen, Kieron Pollard, Mayank Markande, Tymal Mills, and Hrithik Shoukin
Chennai Super Kings and Ravindra Jadeja
The four-time champion, Chennai Super Kings, was another team that ended at the bottom of the points table. CSK also won only four games in the whole season and ended in 9th place on the table. Apart from the non-performance, there were a few other issues in the team related to injuries, the captaincy, and many more. There was talk of a schism between the franchise and former captain Ravindra Jadeja.
And some media reports also confirmed that both are looking to part ways in the next season. However, to end all these speculations, the franchise has retained its star all-rounder for the next season. CSK submitted the list of retained players, and Jadeja was on it. The franchise has retained a total of nine players and released four in total.
CSK Retained Players: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Rituraj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dubey, Devon Conway, Dwayne Pretorius, Mukesh Chaudhary, and Deepak Chahar
CSK Released Players: Chris Jordan, Mitchell Santner, Adam Milne, and Narayan Jagdeeshan
