The upcoming ODI World Cup is all set to start in India on October 5. The game will be a contest between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Team India will play their opening match against five-time champion Australia in Chennai on October 8. This will be a great chance for the Indian team to win an ICC title at home.
India hasn’t won an ICC tournament since 2013. But the last time the World Cup was held in India, they won it under MS Dhoni. So can they repeat it once again? Only time will tell. But the Indian management, team, and staff members are doing everything for this.
On Tuesday, the Indian selection committee announced a 15-member squad for the coming marquee tournament at home. The team has all the big names, and it is India’s full-strength squad. But there are some players who would feel unlucky to be left out.

Rohit Sharma will lead the team in the mega event. Hardik Pandya is the vice captain. The same team is playing in the Asia Cup 2023. The top order had Rohit, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli. KL Rahul is fit and is back in the team. He will keep wickets, and Ishan Kishan is another wicket-keeping option. The middle orders will have the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul, and Ishan. Then, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel are the all-rounders in the team.

India has gone with Kuldeep Yadav as the specialist spinner and didn’t pick Ravichandran Ashwin or Yuzvendra Chahal in the team. Apart from that, India didn’t pick Sanju Samson after Rahul returned to the squad. Suryakumar retained his place despite not having good numbers in ODIs. In the pace department, India picked four specialist pacers: Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur.
