3. Sri Lanka (79 runs) vs UAE in October 2022
Sri Lanka registered their third-highest win margin in the shorter format during the first round of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. It was the sixth game of the tournament, and they played against U.A.E. in Geelong. U.A.E. won the toss and decided to bowl. Pathum Nissanka gave the Sri Lankan team a good start and scored a fighting half-century. He made 74 off 60 balls, with six fours and two sixes.
Kusal Mendis (18) and Dhananjaya de Silva (33) also made decent contributions with the bat. As a result, Sri Lanka reached a fighting target of 152/8 in 20 overs. It was a par score on the pitch. But the Sri Lankan bowlers made this target look like 200. Wanindu Hasaranga (3/8) and Dushmantha Chameera (3/15) picked up three wickets each, and U.A.E. got dismissed for 73 runs in 17.1 overs. 2. Sri Lanka (82 runs) vs Zimbabwe in September 2012
The second biggest win margin in 20-over cricket for Sri Lanka came in the 2012 T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka. This was the the first game of the tournament in Hambantota. Batting first, Sri Lankan batters played some useful knocks with the bat. Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 39 off 28 and Kumar Sangakkara made 44 off 26. In the end, Jeevan Mendis played an unbeaten cameo of 43 off 30, with four boundaries and one six.
Sri Lanka managed a challenging total of 182/4. It was a big target to chase against some excellent Sri Lankan bowlers. The second inning was dominated by the bowlers. Ajanta Mendis bowled one of the most economical spells ever recorded in the shorter format. He ended up with a figure of 6/8 in four overs,nd Zimbabwe got bowled out for 100 runs. 1. Sri Lanka (172 runs) vs Kenya in September 2007
Sri Lanka’s biggest win margin is also the Highest in the T20 internationals and also in the T20 World Cup. It came during the inagural T20 World Cup in 2007 in South Africa. This was the 8th game of the competition in Johannesburg between Sri Lanka and Kenya. After winning the toss, Kenya decided to bowl first but that decision backfired on them. Sri Lanka had a blistering start with Sanath Jayasuriya smashing a 30-ball fifty.
He made 88 off 44, with 11 fours and four sixes. Mahela Jayawardene scored a 21-ball fifty and made 65 off 27 balls, with nine fours and two sixes. In the end, an incredible cameo of 46 not out from 13 balls by Jehan Mubarak helped Sri Lanka finish on high. They recorded the biggest total in T20 World Cup of 260/6. Chasing the target, Kenya only managed 85 runs in 19.3 overs and lost by a record margin of 172 runs.
