3. South Africa (90 runs) vs England in July 2022
South Africa registered their third-biggest win in July 2022 when they toured England for a three-match series. It came in the third and final game in Southampton. Batting first, South Africa lost Quinton de Kock for a three-ball duck. But Reeza Hendricks carried the inning forward and smashed a 70 off 50 balls, including nine fours. Aiden Markram scored an unbeaten half-century and made 51 off 36 balls.
Skipper David Miller scored a quick cameo of 22 off nine balls. It helped South Africa reach a target of 191/5 in 20 overs. This wasn’t a big score to chase. But England didn’t have any big inning from anyone of their batters. Tabraiz Shamsi bowled a superb spell of 5/24 in four overs. England were bowled out for 101 in 16.4 overs and lost by 90 runs.
2. South Africa (104 runs) vs Bangladesh in October 2022
South Africa recorded their second highest win margin in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. They did it in the 22nd game of the tournament against Bangladesh at the Sydney Cricket Ground. After winning the toss, Proteas decided to bat first and the batters proved that decision right. Quinton de Kock scored a 33-ball half-century and made 63 off 38 balls, including seven fours and three sixes.
Rilee Rossouw batted exceptionally well and smashed a 52-ball century. He made 109 runs off 56 balls, including seven fours and 8 sixes. He helped South Africa to reach a big total of 205/5 in the first inning. Chasing the target, Bangladesh struggled throughout their inning. Anrich Nortje picked up 4/10, and Tabraiz Shamsi ended up with 3/20. Bangladesh got dismissed for 101 runs in 16.3 overs. The Proteas won that game by 104 runs.
1. South Africa (130 runs) vs Scotland in June 2009
The biggest win for South Africa came in the 2009 T20 World Cup. It was recorded in the 5th game of the tournament at the Oval against Scotland. After losing the toss, South Africa were put into bat first. They had a good start and both openers added 87 runs for the first wicket. Skipper Graeme Smith scored a 29-ball 38, and Jacques Kallis made 48 off 31 balls.
In the end, AB de Villiers smashed a 25-ball half-century. He made an unbeaten 79 off 34 balls, including six fours and six sixes. The Proteas reached a big total of 211/5 in the first inning. Chasing the target, Kyle Coetzer was the only batter who looked good and made 42 runs. But Scotland got all out for just 81 runs in 15.4 overs and lost the game by a huge margin of 130 runs.
