The New Zealand cricket team is one of the best teams in the world that is currently ranking at the top position in ICC ODI team ranking. They are also known as Black Caps. The team played their maiden ODI match against Pakistan at Lancaster Park, Christchurch; 11 February 1973. As of April 2022, New Zealand has contested 778 ODI matches out of which they have successfully achieved victory in 357 matches and faced defeat on 374 occasions.
New Zealand has also achieved the the target of 300+ on 8 occasion in the history of ODI. In the last version of the ODI World Cup in 2019, New Zealand reached the final where they fought with England but unfortunately could not become World Champions.

New Zealand registered the record for the highest chase in ODI by New Zealand during a match when Australia visited New Zealand to play 3 ODI matches series in 2007 In the 3rd match of the series, Australia set a target of 347 runs for New Zealand. The incredible innings of unbeaten 181 runs by Matthew Hayden helped the Australian team to add such a big total on the scoreboard. New Zealand also wanted a good start from their batters but they failed and lost 4 wickets at the score of just 41 runs. Then Craig McMillan and Brendon McCullum at the number 6 and 7 position took the command of the innings and handled the situation very well.
They played majestically and took the conditions in favor of New Zealand by adding 165 runs in a pair for the 5th wicket. Thus, New Zealand achieved the target and made 350 runs as the highest chase in ODI by New Zealand.
