It was the 16th match of the 2014 World Cup between Australia and Pakistan at Mirpur. After winning the toss, Australia chose to bowl first. But the Men in Green played well and scored 191/5 in their 20 overs. Umra Akmal was the highest run-scorer who made 94 runs off 54 balls. Australia didn’t have a good start and lost the first two wickets in the very first over.
But after that, Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch steadied the innings and added a partnership of 118 runs for the third wicket. Maxwell made 74 off 33 balls and Finch scored 65 runs off 54 balls. The highest partnership for Australia came in the 2012 World Cup in a match against India at Colombo. After winning the toss, India chose to bat first but the Australian bowling attack did a decent job of restricting India to a below-par score. The men in blue scored 140/7 in their 20 overs and Shane Watson picked up three wickets. Chasing the target, both Australian openers added 133 runs for the opening wicket to help their team win the match.
