Highest Partnership in ODI World Cup

The ODI World Cup is the biggest tournament in the career of any player and for any team. All the top teams prepare for four years to do well in the mega event, and at last, only one team ends up winning the tournament. It started in 1975. Australia has been the most successful team in this competition.

They have won it six times, followed by India and West Indies twice each. Over the years, many incredible performances have been recorded in this tournament. Some of the biggest ODI partnerships came in World Cup games. In fact, the highest ODI stand came in the 2015 ODI World Cup.

5. David Miller and JP Duminy (256* runs) vs Zimbabwe in 2015

The fifth-highest World Cup stand came between David Miller and JP Duminy during the 2015 World Cup against Zimbabwe in Hamilton. Both batters added an unbeaten 256 runs for the fifth wicket in just 29.4 overs. Miller made 138 not out, and Duminy scored 115 not out. South Africa scored 339/4 and dismissed Zimbabwe for 277 runs to win by 62 runs.

4. David Warner and Steve Smith (260 runs) vs Afghanistan in 205

David Warner and Steve Smith registered the fourth-highest World Cup stand during the 2015 edition. They added 260 runs against Afghanistan in Perth during the 26th game of the competition. Warner scored a big hundred and made 178 off 133, with 19 fours and five sixes, and Smith scored 95 off 98. Australia made a huge total of 417/6 and dismissed Afghanistan for 142 runs to register the biggest World Cup win by 275 runs.

3. Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan (282 runs) vs Zimbabwe in 2011

The third-highest stand, which is also the highest World Cup opening stand, came between Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan. The pair registered it against Zimbabwe during the 2011 World Cup in Pallekele. Both openers added 282 runs in 44.4 overs. Tharanga scored 133 off 141 with 17 fours, and Dilshan made 144 off 131, including 16 fours and one six. Sri Lanka made 327/6 and dismissed Zimbabwe for 188 in 39 overs. Sri Lanka won the game by 139 runs.

2. Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid (318 runs) vs Sri Lanka in 1999

There are only two times when a pair scored over 300 runs in a World Cup game. The first time was between Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid during the 1999 edition. It was the game against Sri Lanka in Taunton. Batting first, India scored 373/6 courtesy of a 318-run stand for the second wicket. Ganguly scored his career-best score of 183 runs, including 17 fours and seven sixes. Dravid made 145, with 17 fours and one six. In reply, Sri Lanka got all out for 216 runs and lost the game by 157 runs.

1. Marlon Samuels and Chris Gayle (372 runs) vs Zimbabwe in 2015

The highest ODI stand came during the 2015 ODI World Cup in a game between West Indies and Zimbabwe in Canberra. Batting first, West Indies scored a big total of 372/2, and Marlon Samuels and Chris Gayle added all the runs (372 runs) for the second wicket. Gayle smashed a brilliant double hundred and made 215 off 147, with 10 fours and 16 sixes. Samuels made 133 not out. Zimbabwe replied with 289 all out and lost the game by 73 runs (DL method).
