Gujarat Titans played their first ever game in the IPL against another new team, Lucknow Super Giants, at the Wankhede Stadium. It was Lucknow that batted first and made 158/6 in the first inning. LSG lost their first four wickets for just 29 runs and then had an 87-run stand for the fifth wicket between Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni. Hooda made 55 runs, while Badoni scored 54 runs. But GT chased down the score and made 161/5 to win by five wickets.

GT won against almost every opponent in 2022, and some of those games ended in a nail-biting finish. One such game was against CSK in Pune. Batting first, CSK made 169/5. They started poorly and were at 2/32, but then, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ambati Rayudu added 92 runs for the third wicket. Gaikwad made 73 off 48, and Rayudu supported him with 46 runs. But that wasn’t proved to be a winning total, as Gujarat made 170/7 in 19.5 overs to win the game with the help of David Miller (94* off 51).

Another thriller that took place for Gujarat Titans was against SRH. It was the 40th game of the tournament at Wankhede. Sunrisers batted first and scored 195/6 with the help of a 96-run partnership for the third wicket between Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram. Abhishek made 65 off 42 and Markram scored 56 off 40. It was a big total to chase against SRH bowling, but GT did it on the last ball of the game. Gujarat made 199/5 and won by five wickets. Umran Malik picked up 5/25 in that game.
