Highest Partnership against GT in IPL

It is very rare for any team to make its debut in a competition and win it straight away by dominating. That’s what the Gujarat Titans did when they made their debut in the Indian Premier League in 2022. Hardik Pandya led this team to their maiden season, beating all teams convincingly. However, there were a few moments when the opposition got past GT.

That is what we will discuss here in this article. This will contain all the biggest partnerships recorded against the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. However, they played only one season, and still, a few teams got the better of them sometime.

5. Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni (87 runs) in 2022

Gujarat Titans played their first ever game in the IPL against another new team, Lucknow Super Giants, at the Wankhede Stadium. It was Lucknow that batted first and made 158/6 in the first inning. LSG lost their first four wickets for just 29 runs and then had an 87-run stand for the fifth wicket between Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni. Hooda made 55 runs, while Badoni scored 54 runs. But GT chased down the score and made 161/5 to win by five wickets.

4. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ambati Rayudu (92 runs) in 2022

GT won against almost every opponent in 2022, and some of those games ended in a nail-biting finish. One such game was against CSK in Pune. Batting first, CSK made 169/5. They started poorly and were at 2/32, but then, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ambati Rayudu added 92 runs for the third wicket. Gaikwad made 73 off 48, and Rayudu supported him with 46 runs. But that wasn’t proved to be a winning total, as Gujarat made 170/7 in 19.5 overs to win the game with the help of David Miller (94* off 51).

3. Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram (96 runs) in 2022

Another thriller that took place for Gujarat Titans was against SRH. It was the 40th game of the tournament at Wankhede. Sunrisers batted first and scored 195/6 with the help of a 96-run partnership for the third wicket between Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram. Abhishek made 65 off 42 and Markram scored 56 off 40. It was a big total to chase against SRH bowling, but GT did it on the last ball of the game. Gujarat made 199/5 and won by five wickets. Umran Malik picked up 5/25 in that game.

2. Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar (99 runs) in 2022

RCB was one of the teams that troubled GT in 2022. In the 43rd game of the season, these two teams met in Brabourne Stadium. Batting first, RCB lost Faf du Plessis (0) for nothing. But then, Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar added 99 runs for the second wicket. Virat made 58 off 53, while Patidar scored 52 off 32. RCB made 170/6 in their first inning. In reply, GT had some good contributions in the middle and made 174/4 in 19.3 overs to win the game.

1. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis (115 runs) in 2022

It was the RCB again that had a great partnership against the 2022 IPL winners. It came in the last group match for RCB, which was a must-win contest for them. Batting first, GT made a total of 168/5 in their first inning. Hardik Pandya made 62 not out from 47 balls. In reply, RCB had a brilliant start to their chase with a 115-run opening stand between Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. Virat made 73 off 54, and Du Plessis scored 44 off 38 balls. RCB made 170/2 in 18.4 overs and won the game.
