5. Shikhar Dhawan (101 not out) in 2020
Shikhar Dhawan is the only player with more than 1000 IPL runs against the four-time champions. He has hit the fifth highest score against them. He scored an unbeaten century against them in 2020, when he was part of the Delhi Capitals. In the 34th game, CSK made 179/4, and in reply, DC scored 185/5 and won the game by five wickets. Dhawan made an unbeaten 101 off 58 with 14 fours and one six.
4. AB de Villiers (105 not out) in 2009
AB de Villiers holds the fourth-highest score against the Yellow Army. But his score didn’t come playing for the RCB. In fact, he was part of the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) when he scored an unbeaten century against them in 2009. It was the ninth game of the tournament in Durban. Batting first, Delhi scored 189/5, with De Villiers scoring 105 not out off 54 balls, including five fours and six sixes. Chasing the target, CSK fell short by nine runs and made 180/9.
3. Sanath Jayasuriya (114 not out) in 2008
CSK ended the inaugural IPL season as runners-up in 2008. That’s when former MI opener Sanath Jayasuriya registered a brilliant century against them. It came in the 36th game of the 2008 season when MI faced CSK at Wankhede. Chennai posted a target of 156/6 in their first inning. In reply, Mumbai registered an easy chase courtesy of an unbeaten ton by Jayasuriya. He made 114 not out off 48 balls with nine fours and 11 sixes, and MI made 158/1 in just 13.5 overs.
2. Paul Valthaty (120 not out) in 2011
Paul Valthaty is one of those players who has scored a century against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. He scored a century against them in 2011, when CSK won the championship. It was the ninth game of the season in Mohali. Chennai scored a challenging total of 188/4 in their 20 overs with Murali Vijay (74 off 43) and S Badrinath (66* off 56). In reply, Valthaty gave Punjab a brilliant start and scored an unbeaten 120 off 63 balls, with 19 fours and two sixes. He led his team to 193/4, winning by six wickets.
1. Virender Sehwag (122 runs) in 2014
Virender Sehwag has hit the highest score by a batter against CSK in the IPL. It was made in the second qualifier of the 2014 season between Punjab and Chennai. Batting first, Punjab scored a massive 226/6 in their first inning. Sehwag smashed a big century and made 122 off 58 balls, with 12 fours and 8 sixes. In fact, it is also the highest score by a batter in an IPL playoff. In reply, CSK also tried hard but only scored 202/7 and lost the game by 24 runs. As a result, Punjab moves on to the final.
