T20 World Cup 2022: After almost one month and a total of 45 games, we have finally got our new World T20 champions. And it was none other than Jos Buttler’s England that defeated Pakistan in the final on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The English team won the game by five wickets, thanks to a brilliant knock by Ben Stokes. With this win, England has now become the second team after West Indies to lift the World T20 title twice.
England won their first T20 title in 2010, beating Australia in the final under the leadership of Paul Collingwood. And now, 12 years later, they have done it once again. And the man of the moment was once again Ben Stokes, who guided them to a perfect chase against the world class Pakistan bowling attack. He scored 52 not out off 49 balls, with five fours and one six, to help his team win the game.
Stokes was the reason that England won the 2019 ODI World Cup final against New Zealand at Lord’s. And now he has done so once again for his country on the biggest stage. However, England has created another record by becoming the only team to win the ODI and T20 World Cups together. Left-arm pacer Sam Curran was the “Man of the Match” with a brilliant figure of 3/12 in his four overs. Batting first, Pakistan made 137/8 in their first innings, and England chased it down in 19 overs with five wickets in hand.
