GT: The Indian Premier League 2022 saw two more teams make their debut in the competition. Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans made their IPL debuts in the last season. Both teams did a pretty good job. In fact, Gujarat registered their name in the records book and became the only second team to lift the IPL title in their maiden season.
India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya led the team brilliantly, and they won the title, beating Rajasthan Royals in the finals at the Narender Modi Stadium in Ahmadabad. But there were a few games that didn’t go their way in the competition. In this article, we will cover the list of the lowest IPL totals for the Gujarat Titans.
3. GT (144/4) vs LSG in 2022
The third lowest total for the Gujarat Titans came against the Lucknow Super Giants in May 2022. It came in the 57th game of the tournament at DY Patil Stadium. It was Gujarat that won the toss and chose to bat first. GT didn’t have a good start and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. In the end, they reached 144/4 in their full quota of 20 overs.
Gill was the top scorer with 63* off 49 balls, including seven fours. Chasing the target, LSG had a horrible start. In fact, Gujarat bowlers bowled a very tight line. In the end, the whole Lucknow Super Giants got all out in 13.5 overs at the score of 82 runs. For GT, Rashid Khan picked up four wickets and ended up with a figure 4/24. Gujarat won that game by 62 runs.
2. GT (137/9) vs CSK in 2022
The second lowest total for the Gujarat Titans came against the four-time champion Chennai Super Kings. It was the 62nd game of the 2022 season at Wankhede Stadium. CSK won the toss and chose to bat first. Chennai lost their first wicket in the second over. But after that, they had two decent partnerships. But CSK couldn’t carry on for a long. In the end, they only reached 133/5 in their 20 overs.
It was a below-average total for the chase. Chasing the target, GT got a good start from the openers. Both openers added 59 runs for the first wicket. Wriddhiman Saha kept solid at one end and took the Gujarat team over the line. GT reached the target in 19.1 overs and made 137/3. Shah was unbeaten on 67* off 57 balls.
1. GT (133/3) vs RR in 2022
The lowest total for the Gujarat Titans came against the Rajasthan Royals in the final of the competition. And this came in the winning cause. It was RR who won the toss, and they decided to bat first in the final game. Batting first, both openers did a decent job. Jos Buttler made 39 off 35, while Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 22 off 16. But they only scored 130/9 in their first innings.
It was a big total to score for the strong batting lineup of the Gujarat Titans. But in their chase, they lost two quick wickets at 23 in 4.3 overs. But after that, opener Shubman Gill gave them the much-needed flow. Eventually, GT chased down the target in 18.1 overs and made 133/3 to lift their maiden IPL title. Gill was unbeaten on 45* off 43 balls.
