Australian swashbuckling opener David Warner is in fourth place in the overall list. Warner made his ODI debut for Australia in January 2009 against South Africa in Hobart. He completed 5000 ODI runs in his 117th innings. Overall, Warner has played 138 matches so far and scored 5799 runs at an average of 44.60, with 18 centuries and 26 half-centuries.
Virat Kohli (India) – 114 innings

The 33-year-old is, without a doubt, the top batter in the current era across all three formats. There are not many batting records that Virat doesn’t have. He took 114 innings to reach the milestone. So far, Virat has played 262 ODI games and scored 12344 runs, including 43 centuries and 64 half-centuries.
Viv Richards (West Indies) – 114 innings
Former West Indies legend Sir Viv Richards is third on this list. He is the joint-third fastest player with Virat, who scored 5000 ODI runs in 114 innings. Richards was a once-in-a-lifetime player of his generation, who loved to dominate the opposition. In his career, he played 187 ODI games and scored 6721 runs at an average of 47.00. Sir Richards also scored 11 centuries and 45 half-centuries in his ODI career.
Hashim Amla (South Africa) – 101 innings
If you can surpass the likes of Viv Richards, Virat Kohli, Warner, Root, and many more, then you are definitely the best. Former South African skipper Hashim Amla is at the top 2 of the list and has taken 13 innings less than No. 2. In his 101st innings, Amla completed 5000 ODI runs in his career. He made his debut in March 2008 against Bangladesh. In his career, he played 181 games and scored 8113 runs, including 27 centuries and 39 fifties.
Babar Azam (Pakistan) – 97 innings
Babar Azam became the fastest player to hit 5000 runs in ODI. He just took 97 innings. He was playing against New Zealand at home ground. He broke Hashim Amla’s records of fastest to 5000 runs.
