5. Suresh Raina – 173 innings
Former CSK star Suresh Raina was the first batter for the four-time champion to score 5000 runs in the IPL. The southpaw was part of the league from 2008 to 2021 and played for Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Lions. He completed 5000 IPL runs in 173 innings. In his career, Raina scored 5528 runs in 200 innings at an average and strike rate of 32.51 and 136.73.
4. Shikhar Dhawan – 168 innings
Veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan is another player who has been scoring runs in every season he plays. Dhawan made his IPL debut in 2008 Delhi and has played for MI, SRH and PBKS since then. He is still going strong and completed 5000 career runs in 168 innings. Until now, he has scored 6593 runs in 213 innings at 35.83 with two centuries and 50 half-centuries.
3. AB de Villiers – 161 innings
Former South African superstar and IPL legend AB de Villiers is the third fastest on this list. De Villiers made a huge impact in the tournament, and his impact will always be remembered when someone talks about the IPL. He played for Delhi and RCB between 2008 and 2021 and completed 5000 IPL runs in his 161st inning. De Villiers scored 5162 runs in 170 innings with three centuries and 40 half-centuries.
2. Virat Kohli – 157 innings
Former RCB skipper and the run-machine in the IPL, Virat Kohli is in second spot on this list. Virat is currently the leading run-scorer and the only player to score 7000 IPL runs. He has been playing for RCB throughout his IPL career which started from 2008. Virat completed 5000 IPL runs in 157 innings. So far, he has scored 7044 runs with five centuries and 50 half-centuries.
1. David Warner – 135 innings
Being an overseas star it takes a lot to lead this list but David Warner has been phenominal in the IPL history. The left-hander is the only player with three “Orange Caps” in 2015, 2017 and 2019, respectively. He is the fastest to 5000 IPL runs with 135 innings which is 22 innings fewer than Virat Kohli. Warner has represented DC and SRH in his IPL career.
