5. Virat Kohli – 128 innings
Virat Kohli is a synonym of consistency when it comes to scoring runs in any form and any level of the game. The former RCB skipper is currently the leading run-scorer in the IPL. He has scored over 7000 runs in this competition. It took him 128 innings to complete 4000 IPL runs in his career, which started in 2008 for RCB.
4. Faf du Plessis – 121 innings
Making his debut in 2012, Faf du Plessis become a consistent performer in the tournament. He has played for Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants earlier and now is leading Royal Challengers Bangalore. Du Plessis is a consistent performer in the tournament and is the fourth-fastest to 4000 IPL runs. He recently completed this feat in his 121st inning.
3. David Warner – 114 innings
Veteran Australian opener David Warner is the only player in the IPL to win the “Orange Cap” three times in 2015, 2017, and 2019, respectively. He is a consistent performer and has played for the Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in his career. Warner scored 4000 runs in his 114th inning. So far, he has scored 6211 runs with four centuries and 59 half-centuries.
2. Chris Gayle – 112 innings
One of the biggest power-hitters in the tournament, Chris Gayle, played in the IPL from 2009 to 2021. He was probably the hardest hitter of the ball in the tournament in his playing days. Gayle took just 112 innings to complete 4000 runs in his IPL career. He retired after the 2021 season and played for KKR, PBKS, and RCB. In his IPL career, he scored 4965 runs in 141 innings with six centuries and 31 half-centuries.
1. KL Rahul – 105 innings
The Indian superstars and veteran opener KL Rahul are run machines in the tournament. He made his first appearance in the IPL in 2013 and played as middle order before being promoted as an opener. He has played so far for PBKS, RCB, SRH and LSG and took only 105 innings to complete 4000 IPL runs. Rahul has scored 4163 runs in 109 innings with four centuries and 33 half-centuries.
