6. Jonathan Trott (England) – 21 innings
Former English opener Jonathan Trott caught the eyes of everyone with his consistency at the top. Trott made his ODI debut in August 2009 against Ireland and played for four years in this format. As he became the joint-third fastest player to reach 1000 ODI runs. He took only 21 innings to do so and achieved this feat in March 2011 against Ireland. Trott scored 2819 runs in 68 ODIs, including four centuries and 22 half-centuries.
5. Kevin Pietersen (England) – 21 innings
Next on the list is former hard-hitting English batter Kevin Pietersen, who was known for his innovative shots. Pietersen was a very smart batsman who loved attacking the opposition. He made his ODI debut in November 2004 against Zimbabwe. He took 21 innings to complete 1000 ODI runs and, overall, he scored 4440 runs in 125 innings, including nine centuries and 25 half-centuries.
4. Viv Richards (West Indies) – 21 innings
Former West Indies legend Viv Richards was the iconic batsman of his generation. He was the backbone of the West Indies in the 1980s. He held many batting records in the game, and one of those was the fastest 1000 ODI runs (now third fastest). Sir Richards made his ODI debut in June 1975 against Sri Lanka, and it took him just 21 innings to reach the 1000-run mark. In his career, he scored 6721 runs in 167 ODI innings, including 11 centuries and 45 fifties, along with 118 wickets.
3. Shubman Gill (India) – 19 Innings
Shuman Gill became fastest Indian player to score 1000 runs in ODI. He achieved this milestone by scoring a double century in ODI against New Zealand on Jan 18, 2023.
2. Imam-ul-Haq (Pakistan) – 19 innings
Pakistan star opener Imam-ul-Haq is the second fastest batter to reach 1000 ODI runs in history. He made his ODI debut in October 2017 against Sri Lanka, and it took him only 19 innings to reach the milestone. Imam is also among the top ODI batters in the world right now. In his ODI career, he has scored 2528 runs in 54 matches, including 9 centuries and 14 half-centuries.

Veteran Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman is leading this race. The left-hander is known for his aggressive approach and loves playing attacking cricket. Zaman made his ODI debut in June 2017 against South Africa. He became the fastest batter to complete 1000 runs when he played against Zimbabwe in July 2018. He took just 18 innings to do so. Zaman has now scored 2628 runs in 62 innings, including 7 centuries and 14 half-centuries in his ODI career.
