IPL 2023: The preparation for the next edition of the Indian Premier League has been in full swing. All ten franchises got the chance to re-arrange their squads in the mini-auction arranged in Kochi on December 23. And after the successful conclusion of the auction, all ten teams appear to be stronger than ever. The Delhi Capitals traded Shardul Thakur to KKR in exchange for Aman Khan.
Rishabh Pant and his team finished fifth on the points table last season. But they would like to lift their maiden IPL title in the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league. For that, they made some necessary changes to their team. Especially in the bowling and middle-order departments.
Best Bowlers for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023
The franchise brought in veteran pacer Ishant Sharma and new emerging talent Mukesh Kumar to strengthen their bowling attack. And now they have some really good bowlers in their squad.
5. Mukesh Kumar
Young Indian talent is always the first choice of IPL franchises because they can serve a team for a long time. That is why franchises were keen to pick Bihar-born pacer Mukesh Kumar, who was also part of India’s “A” team. Mukesh has played exceptionally well recently, earning him his first call to the Indian team for the Bangladesh tests and Sri Lanka series. DC invested INR 5.5 crore in the uncapped Indian pacer. He has played 33 red-ball games and has 123 wickets at an average of 21.49. In 23 T20s, he has 25 wickets at a decent economy rate of 7.20.
4. Chetan Sakariya
Young left-arm pacer Chetan Sakariya is another pacer who did a decent job for DC in the last season. He was part of all 14 games for them and took 14 wickets at a decent economy rate of 7.64. And being a left-arm pacer, he can bring the ball into the right-hander, and his change-ups are very hard to pick. DC would like him to perform well in the next edition of the Indian Premier League.
3. Khaleel Ahmed
Khaleel Ahmed joined DC in the 2022 season when he was released by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The left-arm pacer impressed with his speed and accuracy in the last season and was the pick of the bowlers for DC. He ended the season as the second highest wicket-taker for Delhi. Khaleel took 16 wickets in the last season at an economy rate of 8.04. A lot will depend on how he performs in the next season if DC wants to get their hands on the trophy.
2. Mustafizur Rahman or Anrich Nortje
Anrich Nortje joined the DC camp in 2020 and certainly caught the eyes of everyone with his rapid pace. In his very first season for Delhi, he picked up the highest wickets for them. Nortje took 22 wickets in the 2020 season. Although he played only six games last season due to his injury, he took nine wickets in those games. Meanwhile, Mustafizur Rahman was another overseas pacer who impressed last season. Mustafizur played in the first half of the tournament in the absence of Nortje and took 8 wickets in 8 games in 2022. So either of them will be a good option for DC.
1. Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav is a seasoned Indian performer in the Indian Premier League. But he didn’t get many chances with KKR in 2019 and 2022. Then he didn’t get any games in the entire 2021 season. But DC roped him in for 2022, and he became their best purchase. Kuldeep ended up picking the most wickets for the franchise in the 2022 season. He took 21 wickets in 14 games with two four-wicket hauls. DC would like to see him replicate his performance and do well in the next season.
