DC vs RR: Almost every team has played half of their league games in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League, but it is still not clear which four teams will make it to the playoffs. The competition in the middle is very tough, and eight teams are fighting for the top four spots. The 34th fixture of the TATA IPL 2022 will feature the Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals up against each other.
The Delhi Capitals are coming off a thumping win over the Punjab Kings by nine wickets. RR also won their last match against KKR, courtesy of an incredible performance from Chahal and Buttler. And now both teams will lock horns at Wakhede Stadium. So let’s check out the complete match details and possible XI for both teams.
DC vs RR: Match Preview and Prediction
The Capital-based franchise had to deal with many things both on and off the field. Players returning positive for COVID, a team struggling to perform, not able to find the right combination, but it didn’t stop them from winning the match against Punjab Kings. It was not a one-sided win with nine wickets and 57 balls to spare. The bowling department performed like a unit. In particular, the spinning department performed exceptionally well. Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav bagged his “Man of the Match” award this season.
Both openers came out, all guns blazing. David Warner has been in tremendous batting form and has scored three back-to-back half-centuries. But now they will be facing one of the strongest teams in the tournament. So they will have to bring their “A” game or else RR will crush them over. Due to unavailability, the playing XI will be the same as in the last match.
Probably XI: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Rishabh Pant (Captain & Wk), Lalit Yadav, Rovman Powell, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Sarfaraz Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, Khaleel Ahmed.
Sanju Samson and his team are sitting in third place with four wins and two losses this season. Rajasthan Royals have played really good cricket so far, largely because of the performances of two individuals. Jos Buttler with the bat and Yuzvendar Chahal with the ball. Both are leading the charts in their respective departments. Buttler is the highest run-scorer in the tournament with 375 runs in 6 matches. The middle order hasn’t had enough match-time. Skipper Samson and opener Padikkal are the other two batters with some runs under their belts.
The bowling line-up is one of the strongest in the competition in both the spin and fast bowling departments. The only thing that they need to take into consideration is that the middle-order tumbled badly and that Boult went for a few runs. However, Obed McCoy made his dream debut when he won the match for the team in the last over. So there are no changes expected in the playing XI.
Probably XI: Devdutt Padikkal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson (C & Wk), Karun Nair, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Obed McCoy
DC vs RR Match, Pitch and Toss Update
The pitch at Wankhede Stadium is always good for the pace bowlers at the start. But spinners will also get some help later in the match. But overall, it is a complete batting surface. Batsmen play their shots on the up without thinking about any uneven bounce. The average score at this pitch is 165. Dew will be another factor that might come into play in the evening game. So the bowlers will find it hard to grip the wet ball in the second innings. The toss becomes crucial in the T20 game, as winning the toss will give an extra edge. The team winning the toss should field first, as chasing will be easier than batting first. The team batting second has won four out of six matches on this pitch this season.
DC vs RR Head to Head Stats
Both teams have met a total of 24 times in the history of the IPL. There is nothing to separate the two teams in IPL history. Both teams have won 12 matches each. However, DC has won five out of the last six matches played between the two.
IPL 2022: DC vs RR: Players to watch out for
Jos Buttler has been the standout batsman in this season of the IPL. The England swashbuckling opener has scored 375 runs in six matches at an average and strike rate of 75.00 and 156.90, including two centuries. He is coming off a century against KKR, so that might give him more confidence against DC.
Yuzvendra Chahal has impressed everyone with his performance so far. The veteran leg-spinner was the difference between KKR and the win in the last match. He took his maiden fifer and the first hat-trick of the Indian Premier League. With 17 wickets in six games, he is the current “Purple Cap” holder.
David Warner has given DC fans every reason to cheer. The left-hander is on a roll and has hit three consecutive half-centuries so far. Despite missing the first two matches, he is the second-highest run-scorer for the franchise this season. Warner has scored 191 runs in four matches at an average and strike rate of 63.66 and 152.80.
Kuldeep Yadav will be up against his partner and old friend, Yuzi Chahal. And it will be an interesting match-up. Kuldeep is second on the list of the highest wicket-takers and has also won three “Man of the Match” awards. The 27-year-old has taken 13 wickets so far in six matches at an average of 14.31. He will be a difficult bowler to face for RR in the middle.
IPL 2022: Predicted 11 team of the match Prediction
Wicket-keeper: Jos Buttler (RR), Sanju Samson (RR), Rishabh Pant (DC)

Tips: Jos Buttler will be the captain of the team. David Warner will be the vice-captain. The batting orders of both teams are top heavy, but RR has the better bowling attack. So we will back RR to win the match. However, the team winning the toss might win the game as well.
