DC: Delhi Capitals missed the opportunity to play in the playoffs of the 2022 season after losing the last group match to Mumbai Indians. But now, the franchise will look to bounce back, and accordingly, they have also prepared the team for that. The mini-auction for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League took place in Kochi on December 23. DC went into the auction with an amount of INR 19.45 in their purse.
They had only five slots to fill. Notably, the capitals made some changes ahead of the auction. They traded Indian pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur to the Kolkata Knight Riders and roped in Aman Khan from KKR. DC hasn’t gotten their hands on the IPL title till now, and will look to end their trophy drought in the upcoming season.

After the inclusion of Manish Pandey and Phil Salt, the middle order will certainly get a boost. But the question is, who will be the first choice among the four overseas players that will feature in the team? Last season, Warner, March, Anrich Nortje, and Rovan Powell were the first-choice players. That will be more interesting to see now.

DC roped in Rilee Rossouw at the auction
Delhi is mainly a strong batting side with the likes of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, and Rishabh Pant at the top. However, there is a doubt over Marsh. He sustained an ankle injury most recently, which has ruled him out of the BBL 22–23. Thus, if he does not make it to the team, the franchise has roped in South African top-order batter Rilee Rossouw. The left-hander has been in good form for the Proteas in the shorter format.
Aside from him, DC also acquired English dangerous batter Phil Salt for INR 2 crore, which was a steal for the franchise. DC had some inexperienced middle-order in last season; thus, they also roped in Manish Pandey, which will surely give the team a better balance in the middle. Both DC and RCB tried to sign Pandey, but Delhi ended up signing him for INR 2.4 crore.
DC also acquired veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma for their squad. However, their biggest purchase was India “A” pacer Mukesh Kumar, who was part of the India “A” tour of Bangladesh. The franchise trusted the young pacer and spent a total of INR 5.5 crore on him. Delhi has completed their set of 25 players for their team, which includes 25 Indians and 8 overseas stars.
