CSK vs GT: The second match of the double header on Sunday will see two of the best all-rounders in Indian cricket lead their teams in an IPL match. It will be a clash between Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja and their respective teams. The match will start at 7:30 pm at the MCA stadium in Pune.
Gujarat Titans are sitting at the top of the points table with four wins out of five games. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings are the exact opposite, as they have lost four out of five matches and are sitting at the bottom second of the table. So this might be an interesting contest between the two teams. Let’s check out the complete match details and possible XI for both teams.
CSK vs GT: Match Preview and Prediction
Chennai Super Kings
The defending champions had a horrible start to this season, but they have somehow found the lost energy and played like champions in their last match against RCB. As a result, they registered their first win of the season by 23 runs. They ticked all the boxes in the last match and performed exceptionally well in all the departments of the game. They need to just carry on with confidence in the next match against GT.
CSK can still make it to the top four, mathematically. They just need to play the same brand of cricket as they are known for. The inclusion of Maheesh Theekshana into the team has raised the level of the bowling department. The Sri Lankan spinner took four wickets and the skipper also chipped in with three wickets. And who can forget the destructive batting of Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa? Fans will hope they can replicate the same performance for them against GT. And if it happens, then they get two more points.
Probably XI: Robin Uthappa, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja (C), MS Dhoni (Wk), Dwayne Bravo, Chris Jordan, Maheesh Theekshana, Tushar Deshpande.
Having won four matches out of five, the Hardik-led team is sitting at the top of the points table. And it is a collective effort from the team. Everyone has chipped in on the victories they have had so far. Shubman Gill at the top, the skipper in the middle, and Miller and Tewatia at the end have all contributed. But the form of the skipper has been phenomenal this season. He has led the team from the front in all departments of the game.
He is bowling up-front, batting at the top and finishing the game. Hardik has done a tremendous job both as a captain and as a player. The only concern is the form of opening batter Mathew Wade. However, GT have got a back-up as they can try veteran Indian wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha, who can do both jobs with the bat and gloves. But there should not be other changes as the team is gelling well in the tournament.
Probably XI: Wriddhiman Saha (Wk), Shubman Gill, Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya (C), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Abhinav Manohar, Rashid Khan, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami, Alzarri Joseph.
CSK vs GT Match, Pitch and Toss Update
The pitch at the Maharashtra Cricket Association is good for pace bowling as it offers swing and bounce at the start. As a result, the pacers from both teams will enjoy bowling on this track. Batsmen can use the bounce to good effect. The average score here is 165. Dew might come into play in the second innings, and it will always be a challenge for the bowlers to hold the grip. Bowling first will be ideal on this pitch. The team winning the toss will go to the field first. However, three of the five matches played here have been won by batting first and two by batting second.
IPL 2022: CSK vs GT: Players to watch out for
Hardik Pandya has returned to cricket with a totally different version of himself. He is everywhere and doing everything that can be done on the cricket field. He is scoring runs in the powerplay, finishing the games, bowling in the powerplay, taking catches and many other things. The all-rounder has also scored the most runs for his team. Hardik has 228 runs so far at an incredible average of 76.00.
Rashid Khan hasn’t had the number of wickets so far, but he is one of the most economical bowlers in the ongoing season. He has taken six wickets so far, but against the underconfident CSK side he would be more dangerous.
Shivam Dube has evolved as one of the best middle-order batsmen this season. Or you can say, CSK has used him to his maximum potential. The left-hander has scored 207 runs at a fantastic average and strike rate of 51.75 and 176.92, respectively. He is scoring runs at a good pace, and that’s what makes him more dangerous.
Maheesh Theekshana made his debut in grand fashion against RCB. The Sri Lankan mystery spinner took 4/33 in his first match and showed everyone why CSK was eager to get him in their team. His variations are hard to pick and the batsmen in Gujarat’s line-up are not that good against the spinners.
IPL 2022: Predicted 11 team of the match Prediction
Wicket-keeper: Mathew Wade (GT)
Batsmen: Shubman Gill (GT), Robin Uthappa (CSK), Shivam Dube (CSK)
All-rounders: Hardik Pandya (GT), Moeen Ali (CSK), Vijay Shankar (GT), Ravindra Jadeja (CSK)
Bowlers: Maheesh Theekshana (CSK), Rashid Khan (GT), Dwayne Bravo (CSK)
Tips: Hardik Pandya will be the captain of the team. Robin Uthappa or Moeen Ali will be the vice-captain. Both teams are batting powerhouses, but CSK has the experience to turn it around. So we will back CSK to win the match. However, the team winning the toss might win the game as well.
