IPL 2023: Chennai Super Kings is arguably the most dominant team in the history of the Indian Premier League. Despite the suspension in 2016 and 2017 seasons, the Yellow Army has played the most numbers of IPL final. CSK has won four titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021 while also won the Champions League Twenty20 twice in 2010 and 2014.
In 11 out of the 13 seasons that they have played in the tournament, they have qualified for the playoffs. However, they didn’t have the last season as they would have expected. CSK finished ninth on the table with only four wins in 14 group matches. But after the mini-auction, CSK squad for IPL 2023 is looking very strong and will look to bounce back. Especially, with Ben Stokes in the side and MS Dhoni leading the team. But the franchise has picked up some good bowlers in their side. And here we will talk about some really good bowling options for CSK in the IPL 2023.
Best Bowlers for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023
5. Kyle Jamieson
After releasing Adam Milne ahead of the auction CSK was looking to get an quality overseas pacer. And that’s exactly what they did when they signed Kiwi tall pitcher Kyle Jamieson for INR 1 crore. It was a steal for the franchise. Meanwhile, at Chennai, he can be a great bowler with the extra bounce he gets. Jamieson made his IPL debut in 2021 for RCB and played nine games, taking nine wickets with a best of 3/41.
4. Maheesh Theekshana
Sri Lankan star spinner Maheesh Theekshana is a really good spin option for the four-time champions. Especially in Chennai, he can be very effective. The franchise acquired him in the IPL 2021, and he played nine games for them. He did an amazing job for them and took 12 wickets with a best of 4/33. The franchise retained him ahead of the auction at INR 70 lakh.
3. Deepak Chahar
Star Indian pacer Deepak Chahar is a key member of the Chennai Super Kings. That is why the franchise went all out after him in the 2022 auction and acquired him at a huge price of 14 crore. But it was unfortunate that he got injured and didn’t take part in the last season, which affected the performance of the team. However, Chahar is back and is a bankable bowler for his side. He is part of the CSK since 2018 and has taken 58 wickets for them with a best of 4/13.
2. Mukesh Chowdhary
In the absence of injured Deepak Chahar, the franchise tried the young left-arm pacer Mukesh Chowdhary to bowl early on. In fact, that experiment paid off, and Mukesh was the franchise’s biggest find last season. He was the top wicket-taker for his team. Mukesh picked up 16 wickets in 13 games with a best of 4/46. He will surely be the front-line pacer for CSK in the coming season.
1. Ravindra Jadeja
Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is a vital member of Team India across all three formats. And that’s how he has performed with the Chennai Super Kings as well. Jadeja has been part of the Yellow Army since the 2012 season and has also captained a few games in the 2022 season. Although he couldn’t carry on his good form from last season, he is an important bowler for his team because he takes wickets in the middle overs. Jadeja has taken 105 wickets for CSK in 142 games at an economy of 7.53.
