The mega event of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is just a few days away from its final phase. Teams and fans have waited for four long years. The first ball of the World Cup 2023 was bowled on October 5, when the defending champion England played against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium. On the basis of rankings and Super League points, eight teams made a direct entry in ICC world cup 2023.
Sri Lanka and Netherlands qualified after finishing World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe at No. 1 and 2. A total of 48 games will be played in the entire tournament, with the final on November 19. Top four teams from the group stage will qualify for the semi-finals. Ahead of the tournament, all ten participating teams will also play two warmup games each. The International Cricket Council recently revealed the cash prize that will be distributed in the tournament.
Cash Prize for the Cricket World Cup 2023
With the mega event coming soon, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has also revealed the cash prize to be distributed in the competition. All ten teams will be getting some cash during the tournament. The team that wins the tournament will get a huge amount of USD 4 million as a winner’s prize. Meanwhile, the team that ends up as runners-up will receive the sum of USD 2 million.
Meanwhile, the teams that lose in the semi-finals will receive an amount of USD 800,000 each. Top four teams will qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament, while six teams will be eliminated after the group stage. Those six teams will be getting USD 100,000 each. However, for each win during the group stage, the winning team will earn a cash prize of USD 40,000. There are 45 group matches in the tournament. The prize money announced will also be equal in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2025.
