T20 cricket has taken the world by storm. It has been only 18 years, since this format became official, but it has become the most popular among fans. That is why every cricket-playing nation is eager to develop their own T20 leagues. The Indian Premier League was the first of its kind and came into existence in 2007. Then, in 2011, the West Indies Cricket Board introduced their own league, known as the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Until now, ten editions have successfully taken place. The 11th edition of the tournament is all set to begin. The CPL 2023 will kick off on August 16 local time. This will start with a match between the Saint Lucia Kings and the defending champion Jamaica Tallawahs on Thursday in St. Lucia. This tournament will be played across five different venues in the Caribbean, and top stars from around the world will take part in it.
As usual, the upcoming season will see a fight between six teams. The Trinbago Knight Riders are the most successful team with four titles, and Jamaica is next with three. The coming season will have a total of 34 games, including the final on September 24. Five venues will host the games: Providence Stadium, Queen’s Park Oval, Kensington Oval, Warner Park, and Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium. Each team will play the other five teams twice in the group stage. The top four teams from the group stage will qualify for the playoffs.
