Brisbane Heat: The next edition of the Big Bash League is all set to start in three weeks’ time. The BBL 2022-23 will start with a match between the Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars on December 13 (Thursday) at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. Just like the last season, this edition will also have eight teams competing in a total of 61 games, while the Perth Scorchers will defend their title.
The Brisbane Heat, who won the season in 2012, will once again try their luck. They ended up the last season at the fourth place, ending in the playoffs. Brisbane Heat (209/4) vs Sydney Sixers in 2019
The fourth highest BBL total for the Brisbane Heat was made against the Sydney Sixers in the 2019 season. It came in the 9th game of the tournament at the SCG. The Sixers won the toss and chose to bowl first. Batting first, the Brisbane Heat lost both of their openers early: Sam Heazlett (10) and Max Bryant (1). But then came a blistering inning from skipper Chris Lynn, who scored a 20-ball fifty.
He made 94 off 35 balls, with four fours and 11 sixes. Matt Renshaw also batted well and scored 60 not out off 39 balls. As a result, the Head made a big total of 209/4 in their 20 overs. The top two BBL totals for the Brisbane Heat both came against the Hobart Hurricanes. The second highest BBL score came in the 21st game of the 2020 season at Hobart Stadium. It was the Hurricanes that won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Heat didn’t have a great start and lost their opener, Tom Banton (8) very early. But then, they had a 95-run partnership for the second wicket.
Max Bryant scored a 30-ball fifty and made 65 off 36. On the other hand, skipper Chris Lynn carried his bat through and made an unbeaten 88 off 55 balls. As a result, the Heat reached a big total of 212/3 in their 20 overs. Chasing the target, the Hurricanes tried hard but could only manage 181/9.
