T20 leagues have taken the world by storm. To make it more interesting, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) introduced a 100-ball competition named “The Hundred” in July 2021. A total of eight teams take part in it. Two editions have been successful, and the third season is around the corner. Southern Brave won in 2021, and Trent Rockets won in 2022.
The 2023 edition is all set to kick off on August 1 with a game between Trent Rockets and Southern Brave at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. There will be a total of 34 matches in the tournament, and the final match will take place on August 27 at the Lord’s. The 2023 draft took place recently, and every team reshuffled the pack of players that had. Birmingham Phoenix, which made the final of the 2021 edition, will also re-start the season.
Birmingham Phoenix Complete Squad 2023
The Phoenix is one of the eight franchises that are part of the Hundred competition. The Birmingham-based team represents the counties of Warwickshire and Worcestershire in the competition. Their home ground is Warwickshire County Cricket Club in Edgbaston. Moeen Ali will be seen leading the team in the upcoming season, while Daniel Vettori is the head coach. The franchise made some great signings in the recently concluded draft.
They will play their first game against the Northern Superchargers on August 3 at Leeds. The franchise has released a number of players this season, including some big names. They have released Imran Tahir, Jack Leach, Matthew Wade, Ben Dwarshuis, and some other big players. Though they have also signed Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith, and Miles Hammond to strengthen their lineup.
The team is full of 15 match-winners. with some big international names like Chris Woakes, Ben Duckket, Liam Livingstone, Shadab Khan, Adam Milne, and Kane Richardson. With five wins out of eight games, Birmingham finished fourth in the last season. But they will look to do well this time around.
