So, in this article, we will cover the best bowling figures in an innings in a CPL match.
3. Mohammad Nabi (5/15) against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2020
Taking five wickets in any format of a game is itself a huge task, but if you can take five wickets in T20, it is just incredible. The third best figure in CPL is registered under the name of Mohammad Nabi. It came in the 15th match of the 2020 season between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and St Lucia Kings. St. Lucia won the toss and decided to bowl first. They made a surprising move by giving the first over to Nabi.
And he bowled an amazing first over and dismissed both openers in his first over. Then, he came back to bowl his second over and picked up another two wickets. However, for his fifer, he had to wait till the 17th over of the innings. He ended with an incredible figure of 5/15 in the match and Patriots could only score 110/9 in their 20 overs. In reply, Zouks chased down the target in 14.4 overs and scored 111/4, winning the game by six wickets.
2. Sohail Tanvir (5/3) against Barbados Tridents in 2017
The second best figure is just exceptional and it is registered under the name of Sohail Tanvir. It was the 25th match of the 2017 season between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Barbados Tridents at Bridgetown. Barbados won the toss and decided to field first. Guyana had a decent start and, with a few good contributions, they made 158/8 in their 20 overs. It was a competitive target to defend.
But who knew that it was more than enough for Guyana and that they would register a huge win? In response, Barbados were bowled out for just 59 runs in 13.4 overs and Guyana won that match by a big margin of 99 runs. And it was because of an exceptional spell from the former Pakistan pacer. Tanvir bowled his four overs with one maiden and picked up five wickets. He just gave three runs in his four overs and bowled one of the most economical spells in T20 history.
1. Shakib Al Hasan (6/6) against Barbados Royals (Only six-wicket haul in CPL)
The best figure and the only six-wicket haul in the CPL is registered under the name of star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. It was a match between Red Steel and Barbados Royals in the inaugural season of the CPL in 2013. Red Stell won the toss and chose to bat first. But it didn’t turn out to be the right decision. Red Steel got all out for just 52 runs in 12.5 overs, with only two batters crossing the 10-run mark.
This carnage was because of an unbelievable spell from Shakib. He bowled his four overs with one maiden and picked up the first six-wicket haul of the CPL. On top of that, he just conceded six runs and made it one of the most economical figures ever bowled in T20 cricket. Chasing a small target, Barbados just took eight overs and scored 53/6 to win the match by four wickets.
