The TATA IPL 2023 saw a slew of changes when two new franchises joined the competition. It made the former teams release some of their star performers, and all the squads looked completely different from the previous seasons. It also resulted in change in the performance as well. The four-time champion Chennai Super Kings, who won the 2021 season, could only win four games in the entire season out of 14 matches.
They finished the 2022 season in 9th place, which came as a wake-up call for the team. Thus, the franchise also looked keen to reshuffle its squad and pick better match-winners for the upcoming IPL season. And after the IPL 2022 auction, the Yellow Army is looking stronger than last season. They have added one of the biggest names in the game, Ben Stokes. Apart from him, CSK has some other brilliant all-rounders as well. And here we will look at the best all-rounders for Chennai in the coming season.
CSK Best All rounders in IPL 2023
Apart from Stokes, CSK has some other brilliant all-rounders as well. And here we will look at the best all-rounders for Chennai in the coming season.
4. Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube established himself as a hard-hitting middle-order batter who also gave his team an effective medium-pace bowling option. The left-handed batting style resembles that of former Indian star Yuvraj Singh. That’s why he was picked by CSK in the 2022 auction for a price of INR 4 crore. And he also repaid the faith to some extent. Dube scored 289 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 156.22. Although he didn’t get a chance to bowl much and bowled only two overs last season. But he is a genuine all-rounder for the franchise.
3. Moeen Ali
Not just for the Chennai Super Kings, Moeen Ali is a genuine three-dimensional player for England as well. He is a street-smart cricketer who is equally effective for his team in both departments. Ali joined CSK in 2021 and was part of the winning team. Even in his last season, he was effective with both the bat and the ball. He scored 244 runs at a strike rate of 137.58 and also took 8 wickets with the ball at an economy rate of 6.63.
2. Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja is one of the biggest names in world cricket in all three formats. He is one of the top all-rounders in modern-day cricket, who can bowl, bat, and also add value in the field as well. He joined the Yellow Army in 2012 and has been an important part of the team. Jadeja has played 156 games for CSK in the IPL and has taken 114 wickets with a best figure of 5/16. He is the third-highest wicket-taker for the franchise. Jadeja has also scored 1596 runs at an average and strike rate of 26.16 and 136.06.
1. Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes led England to win the 2019 ODI World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup. He is a man of big moments because he can win the game with both the bat and the ball. Stokes is regarded as one of the best all-rounders that the game has ever seen. That’s why the franchise was keen to pick an all-rounder for their squad. CSK spent a whopping amount of INR 16.25 crore to acquire him, making him the costliest buy for CSK ever in the IPL. Stokes has played 43 IPL games, scored 920 runs at 134.50, and taken 28 wickets with the ball.
