The Barbados Royals are one of the six franchises in the Caribbean Premier League that were previously known as the Barbados Tridents. The franchise is run by the same owner, Manoj Badale, who also owns the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. This team represents the city of Barbados in the CPL. Jason Holder is the captain of the side, while Trevor Penney is the head coach of the team.
The Royals are also two-time CPL champions. They won both these titles in the 2014 and 2019 seasons. However, they haven’t had a great performance since 2019. As they were eliminated from the group stages in 2020 and 2021 So the next very clear plan for the franchise is to make the upcoming season big.
Barbados Royals 2022 Squad
The history of the Barbados Royals in the CPL is very different. They have won the championship twice, while they were runners-up in 2015 and semi-finalists in 2013. But apart from these four seasons, they have ended the rest of the five seasons in the bottom two. So the franchise will look to make the most of the upcoming season.
They only performed with some clever strategies in the Drafts 2022. They are the only team with the highest number of retentions. That shows the motive of retaining the core of the team. The franchise retained Jason Holder, Azam Khan (Overseas), Kyle Mayers, Oshane Thomas, Hayden Walsh Jr., and Nyeem Young.
On the other hand, they have picked some big names for their team this season. The Royals have signed Quinton De Kock and David Miller to make their batting order stronger. Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Overseas), Obed McCoy, and Corbin Bosch will give the team bowling options with variety.
