Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) is a sports stadium located in Sydney, Australia. As its name suggests, the stadium was initially built as a cricket stadium. But now it is used for rugby, Australian football along with cricket. The SCG was built in 1848 & it currently boasts of a capacity of 46,000 spectators. The provincial government of New South Wales is the owner of the ground while it is operated by Sydney Cricket Ground Trust.

The SCG is home to many teams. In cricket it is home to the New South Wales Blues & the Sydney Sixers while in AFL it is home to the Sydney Swans. The SCG is a historic ground & many tests as well as one-dayers have been played on this ground till date. The first test match at the SCG was played in the year 1882 between Australia & England. The first one-day on this ground was played much later in 1979 between the same two teams. The first T20I on this ground was played as recently as 2007 between these two Ashes rivals.

As has been mentioned earlier, the Sydney Cricket Ground is steeped in cricketing history. Many a records have been made & broken on this ground. This is the ground where Sir Donald Bradman made his much celebrated first-class personal best of 452* against Queensland in the 1929-30 season. This is the only cricket stadium in Australia which has a pitch favorable for spinners. The pitch is so helpful for spinners that even Alan Border in 1988-89 took 11 wickets in a match on this ground.

Biggest attendance witnessed by SCG occurred during a rugby match between St. George & South Sydney in 1965. More than 78,000 people flocked to the ground to see the match. Biggest attendance during a cricket match occurred in 1928 in a match between England & Australia. 58,000+ people came to the ground for that match.
