Headingley is a multi-sport stadium located in the Leeds suburb of Headingley in the West Yorkshire region of England. Although it is a multi-sport stadium, cricket & rugby are the two games that are primarily played here. The stadium was built way back in 1890 & currently has a capacity of 17,500 spectators. It is one of the primary cricket stadiums in England & hosts cricket matches of all types every season.
The Headingley is home to the Yorkshire County Cricket Club, which the club manages jointly with the Leeds Rugby team. Since 2006, the stadium has been officially named as the Headingley Carnegie Stadium because of sponsorship matters. The Headingley has been a witness to many great cricketing moments. In the Ashes of 1930, Sir Donald Bradman played a magnificent knock of 334 at the Headingley. In 2001 England successfully chased a mammoth total of 315 to beat Australia at the Headingley. Mark Butcher scored an unbeaten 173 in that match.
