The Gabba is the nickname for the Brisbane Cricket Ground. It has got its nickname from the area in which it is located, Woolloongabba. The Gabba was built in the year 1895 & in 1931 it had its first test match which was played between Australia & South Africa. First ODI was played in Gabba in 1979 between England & the West Indies. Apart from cricket, Gabba also plays host to various other sports such as, Rugby, soccer, Australian Rules Football etc.
Today, the Gabba has a seating capacity of 42,000. The cricket team of Queensland uses the Gabba as their home venue.
