The West Indies Cricket team is the only multi-national cricket team having test status from ICC. The team represents sporting federation of 15 Caribbean countries. The team is administrated by West Indies Cricket Board (WCB).

The West Indies team was one of strongest team in both Test and ODI format from 1970s to 1980s until its major players retired from the International Cricket. The team won successive Cricket World Cup in 1975 and 1979 while remained runners up in the next world cup of 1983.

Sir Garfield Sobers, Lance Gibbs, Gordon Greenidge, George Headley, Clive Lloyd, Malcolm Marshall, Andy Roberts and Everton Weekes featured in the ICC Hall of Fame were from West Indies Cricket team. The West Indies Cricket team also gave most aggressive batsman Sir. Viv Richards and world record holder Brian Lara.

Recent performance of the team has not been satisfactory. Team has not won any major tournament and has also been beaten by team like Bangladesh. But team management is hopeful for better performance in upcoming Cricket World Cup 2011.
