Rajasthan Royals is one of the ten teams that play in IPL every year. The team is based in the city of Jaipur in state of Rajasthan. The team is owned by Emerging Media. Other shareholders in the team include Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty & her husband raj Kundra. The Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur is the team’s home ground.

Famous Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne is both the captain & coach of the team. Significant players playing for the team include the likes of Rahul Dravid, Ross Taylor, Johan Botha, Paul Collingwood, Jacob Oram, Shane Watson, Shaun Tait etc.

Best performance of the team in IPL came in its very first edition in 2008 when it won the tournament against all odds. But after that win, the team's performance saw a downward spiral. In the coming three tournaments the team failed to make it pass the group stage. In 2011, the team finished in 6th position in the overall points table.
