The England Cricket team is a national team representing both England and Wales and is governed by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Team was granted test status way back in 1877 and played their first test match against Australia which they lost by 45 runs.

England Cricket team has been runners up three times in Cricket World Cup. Although being strong contender for cricket matches, team has failed to win ODI Cricket World Cup. In the year 2010, they won their first ever World Cup in Twenty20 format held in West Indies. This is the only major tournament won by England Cricket team.

The England Cricket team plays The Ashes series every two years against Australia. Series is hosted alternately by England and Australia. The Ashes has been one of the major series of Test Cricket, other being Gavaskar-Border Trophy held between India and Australia.
