South Africa and New Zealand has been long time rivals in the cricketing field. Not only do they put up an exciting cricketing show when they face each other in the 22 yards, but also successfully entertain the cricketing fraternity and viewers and spectators the world over. Same is expected from the upcoming South Africa tour of New Zealand 2012, beginning from the February 17, 2012, as per the cricket fixture issued by the head cricketing body, the ICC (International Cricket Council). This bilateral cricket series, hosted by New Zealand, will feature T20 internationals, followed by an ODI series. The last leg of South Africa vs New Zealand 2012 will be a Test Series.

This tour is also a part of the Future Tour Program, an initiative of the ICC to promote cricket and globalize the game. South Africa will begin the tour in New Zealand with three T20 matches. The inaugural match will be played at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington, on the February 17, 2012. This game will be followed by another T20 International game, which will take place in Auckland, on February 19. The last T20 game will take place at Hamilton on February 22. Both teams have a balanced T20 squad, and the odds are even.

The 3 T20 games will be followed by the One Day International Series. New Zealand vs South Africa 2012 will have 3 ODIs. The first match will be hosted by Wellington, which provides excellent cricketing conditions, on February 25, 2012. This match will be succeeded by the 2nd One Day International, which will take place at Napier, on February 29. The last One Day International will be organized at Auckland, on March 3, 2012. Recently, both teams have performed decently in the 50 over format, with the odds favoring South Africa.

The last part of the tour will feature South Africa vs New Zealand Test Series 2012. These two teams will engage in the longest version of the game, battling each other in 3 Test matches. The first out of these three will be played at Dunedin, on March 7, 2012. The second Test match will take place on March 15, at Hamilton, while the last game has been allotted to Wellington that will be played on March 23. It will be interesting to see whether South Africa can defeat the Kiwis on their home turf, or whether the Black Caps are successful in hunting down the Proteas.
