This international triangular cricket tournament, well known as the Commonwealth Bank Series 2012, will feature India and Sri Lanka, the Asian cricket giants, as the other two teams. All three teams - Australia, India and Sri Lanka, are stalwarts of the game. It will be an even contest. Each team will play each other four times. Over all, there will be 12 One Day International matches in the preliminary rounds. The top two teams will move into the finals. After the recent success in the World Cup, the Indian contingent about the series, and is well prepared. On the other hand, the runners up of World Cup 2011 - Sri Lanka, are optimistic about doing well in the series. With a new captain, they are a better and more determined side.

Australia has also made considerable changes as far as the core of the team is concerned. With a young captain, the Aussie unit is keen to salvage lost pride with a confident show in the Commonwealth Series 2012. Even though Australia is perched on the top position of the One Day Internationals ranking, battling it out against tuff teams like India and Sri Lanka will require something special from the players. It will be interesting to see how they perform in their home, or whether the Asian nations hunt down the Kangaroos in their own backyard.

After the initial playoff round, only two teams will move ahead to the CB Series 2012 finals. There will be three finals, out of which best of two will be taken into consideration. The whole idea of all the three teams will be to qualify for the finals. Then, the teams will have to beat the other at least twice in order to achieve victory in the Australia Tri Series 2012.
