Yuvraj Singh proved why he is a good test player as well after his superb performance on the third day of the warm-up match for India A against England on Thursday at the CCI. He complemented his royal knock of 59 runs with his bowling figures of 5-94.
Yuvraj took 5 wickets in 26.5 overs. These are his best bowling figures in first-class cricket, overtaking his previous best of 3-25 against Jammu and Kashmir almost a decade back. With this blistering all-round performance, Yuvraj has not only proved his worth in the test arena but also proved his fitness for being on the field for the entire 119.5 overs, something that many critics questioned. What was interesting to note was the fact that Yuvraj dismissed both the set batsmen, Samit patel and Mat prior, batting on 104 and 51, respectively, in the span of just five deliveries.
The game, however, ended in a draw with India A scoring 124-4 in their IInd innings after scoring 369 in the Ist and bowling out England for 426. Selectors would be under great pressure to choose the playing XI for the first test match against England starting on November 15 in Ahmedabad.
