South Africa looking at comprehensive victory against Pakistan in second test

Pakistan provided a shock defeat to the World Number One Test Side South Africa in their first test. The victory for the sub continent team was even more shocking considering the impeccable record of their opponents and the fact that Pakistan had just come into the series on the back of a loss from Zimbabwe, a considerably subdued Test opposition. South Africa after having tasted defeat after nearly 3 years and 15 wins came back strongly in the second test. Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first in the second test match.

South African bowlers were at their cruel best as they did not allow Pakistan to even touch the 3 figure mark. Dale Steyn took 3 wickets while Imran Tahir took a 5 wicket haul as Pakistan’s first innings was bundled up for just 99 runs. If bowling of South Africa was cruelly dedicated to curb the Pakistan innings, their batting in the first innings was equally merciless. If Pakistan were relieved that South African batting line up was devoid of Hashim Amla, then they were in for a rude shock. Captain Smith made a double century while A B de Villiers made 164 runs.

Even though other names could not offer much to the team total, these two innings were enough to take South Africa to 517 and register a mammoth lead of 418. Pakistan now faces an improbable task to escape an innings loss or draw this match, with South African bowlers blazing fire from both ends.
