The first One Day International in the ongoing 3 match ODI series against Pakistan provided a big surprise for the Zimbabwe crowd supporting the home team. Zimbabwe, against all the expectations, brought light to victory against Pakistan after a gap of 15 years. However, the second match brought the visiting side back in the series in a strong manner. Pakistan looked vengeful for the shock loss which they were handed in the first match. Like the first match, Pakistan batted first and posted a total of 299 runs.

The total was intimidating for any side in the world. Mohammed Hafeez was the star of the innings for the visiting side. Hafeez provided Pakistan with an unbeaten knock of 136 runs in just 130 deliveries. Umar Amin provided able support to Hafeez but was run out on the score of 59 runs. Of the 4 wickets of Pakistan which Zimbabwe bowlers managed, two were taken by Vitori. Zimbabwe started chase on a positive note but witnessed wickets on regular intervals.

Captain and Wicket Keeper for the Zimbabwe side was the highest scorer for Zimbabwe and provided 79 runs to their chase. Williams and Waller raised some hope in the late middle order providing with around 80 runs almost run a ball. However, they could not hold fort for long. The tail end of the Zimbabwe batting line up provided little resistance and Zimbabwe went all out for 209 runs, handing a mammoth victory of 90 runs for the visiting side, Pakistan.
