The home crowd of Zimbabwe would have been hoping that their home side would show some fight against India in the 4th ODI of the bilateral series, even though India have already won the series through the results of the first three ODIs. However, this was not to happen as India empowered over Zimbabwe in the 4th ODI as well. Zimbabwe was first to put their bat to the bowl in the 4th ODI. The start of the Zimbabwe innings was grim and they kept losing wickets in quick succession. Mohit Sharma was debuting for India with his bowling skills speaking for him in his very first match. Mohit Sharma bowled well and finished with the figures of 2 wickets for 26 runs in his 10 over.
The 10 over bowled by Mohit Sharma included 3 maiden over as well. Zimbabwe would not have reached even to their modest total of 144 runs had it not been for some batting resistance provided by Waller and Chigumbura. Chigumbura completed his half century and fell immediately. The score of 144 runs on the board after the first innings of the match looked too meagre to stand against the batting might of India.
For the chase, Rohit Sharma opened the Indian innings alongside Cheteshwar Pujara, who could not make most of his opportunity as he was out for 13. Raina was promoted up the order. Both Rohit and Raina took India home with 9 wickets in hand. Mohit Sharma was awarded Man of the Match.
