Little change was expected in third One Day International as compared to the prior two ODIs of the ongoing bilateral series between Zimbabwe and India. India, even though with their young crop on the field, proved more than overwhelming for the African team as they surrendered without any fight in the third One Day International match. Zimbabwe was first to put their bat to the bowl in the said contest and the Indian bowling and fielding gave a comprehensive performance to restrict them to a total of just 183 runs. Had it not been for the tail enders to show some fighting spirit with their bats, Zimbabwe’s first innings score could have folded up much early, given that they were reduced by 6 wickets for just 89 runs.
Sean Williams, with his score of 45 runs, was the top scorer for the home side; while Amit Mishra once again stood out with the ball in the Indian bowling brigade. Mishra finished with the figures of 4 wickets for 47 runs in his 10 over. The chase could not have simpler for India, as the Indian skipper Virat Kohli once again peppered the outfield with his flamboyant batting performance and took India home with an unbeaten knock of 68 runs in 88 deliveries.
The Indian contingent would have been relieved to see Raina gain some momentum as he made quick-fire 28 runs in 18 balls. Mishra was awarded Man of the Match for his bowling as India clinched unbeatable lead in the series.
