India played as the champions as they were expected to even in the second ODI against Zimbabwe and those expecting for a disastrous day for the visiting team like they have had during their Zimbabwe outing three years back in 2010 were left to wonder how that would be possible. Virat Kohli smashed his second ODI century as Captain of the Indian side during the first ODI and it was Shikhar Dhawan’s turn during the second One Day International. Dhawan continued his good form from the last edition of the ICC Champions Trophy, where he was awarded Man of the Series for his relentless torture of opposition’s bowling through his batting.

Dhawan made a steady century which included 11 fours and 2 sixes and fell for 116 runs from 127 deliveries. Dinesh Karthik proved to be an able partner for Dhawan during second ODI as he made a well paced 69 runs in 74 balls. Zimbabwe were a bit generous with their bowling too as they gave 28 runs extra. Vinay Kumar gave some last over fireworks as India finished with a total of 294 runs on the scoreboard.

Indian bowling was well disciplined and new face Jaidev Unadkat emerged as the pick of the bowlers with his 4 wickets, missing out on a hat trick on the last ball. Sibanda and once again Chigumbura played well for Zimbabwe, while Utseya got his fourth ODI half century as well. Eventually, India got a comprehensive 58 runs win in the second ODI.
