Sachin, Virat and MS Dhoni nominated for ICC Awards 2012
The nominations for various awards for the ninth edition of the ICC Awards were announced yesterday. Among the Indian players, three of them have been shortlisted, namely Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar and skipper MS Dhoni.
Young gun Virat Kohli's name has been shortlisted for two awards, i.e., ICC Cricketer of the Year and ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year. In addition, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is also there in the list of ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year. Legend Sachin Tendulkar's name is among the five names nominated for the LG People's Choice Awards. Other four players include Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara, South Africa's all-rounder Jacques Kallis, England's pace bowler James Anderson and South Africa's Vernon Philander.
While, numerous players from different international teams have been nominated for various categories of ICC Awards, names of six players are there in three of the categories. These include Hashim Amla, Michael Clarke, Saeed Ajmal, Kumar Sangakkara, Alastair Cook and Stafanie Taylor.
About 32 international players have been selected for various categories of the ICC Awards 2012. The judges of the panel judging these awards include Clive Llyod, Carl Hooper, Tom Moody, Marvan Atapattu and Clare Connor. What's fascinating to see is the inclusion of awards for women cricketers, namely ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year and ICC Women's T20 Cricketer of the Year. The award ceremony is to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
